POS Product Settings

You can get to this part of the system by clicking on the Admin Button with your username in the upper right, click Settings > POS Settings > Products.

Item Condition - If you toggle this setting to On, you will be offered a list of different Item Conditions that you can make available for your serialized inventory. Check the boxes next to each you might want to use for your serialized inventory. Please note that activating this feature will change the way the pricing for your serialized products is handled and will give you individual fields for each condition level within the product. This feature also works with the Website Pricing described below.

Don't Use Condition Pricing on Website - If you have Serialized Conditions active, by default on your website your items will use the different prices you enter for your items at the different condition levels. If you don't wish to use that and instead wish for all online sales to use Brand New pricing, turn this setting On.

Options for Products

Validate Unique Serial Numbers - The system will not normally check to see if a serial number has been entered before, just in case different manufacturers somehow use the same ones. If all of your Serial Numbers need to be unique, check the box for Validate Unique Serial Numbers System-Wide and if a user tries to save a serial number that is already in the system, a warning will pop up letting them know and asking if they wish to proceed. This validation does not extend to TBD temporary serial numbers assigned by the system whenever you opt to 'Enter it Later.'

Auto-Generate SKU for All New Products - If you use the system SKU generation for your products, you can check this box to have that automatically happen every time a new product is created in the system.

Loaner Items: Require Notes Field - If you do service on items or if you have another reason to loan out inventory to a customer, you might want to require Notes in the Loaner ticket for important details. With the box checked for this option, the system will not allow a Loaner to be saved unless text has been entered in the Notes area. This is a great way to keep track of important details related to the loaner, e.g. serial numbers, specific models, accessories included, etc.

Custom Product Fields

Create Custom Product Fields - Using this feature, you are able to create your own data fields for your products. Any fields you create will be listed for every product in the Departments you associate with the new fields. You'll start by clicking +Create New Group to make a 'group' for the Department(s) and field(s) you need for your first group of customized products.

New / Edit Group - When you click +Create New Group you'll see a blank version of the Edit Group window below.

  • Group Title - What you enter here will be the heading for the new section that will be created in products using this group of custom fields, as pictured below.
  • Applied To (Departments) - If the custom fields in the group will be for all of your products, you can Select All. Or if just one or more will apply, you are able to select Departments individually. All products assigned to the Departments you select will display the custom fields you create for the group.
  • Custom Fields - Click the +Add New Field to create your first one. You can add as many Custom Fields to a group as you might need. You'll need to enter a Custom Field Name for each, set the Field Type from among Text (pictured above), Numeric, Drop-Down (pictured above), Currency, and Date fields. You can also set whether or not the data in the field should Show Online for the product. You can edit or remove your custom fields any time.
  • Save or Delete - If you create a new group, or edit an existing one, you can Save your changes at the bottom. When editing a saved group you have the option to Delete it if you need. You'll be asked to confirm deletion, and please note, there is no way to recover deleted groups or data in the fields for such groups.
