Working With Safari

October 01, 2024October 01, 2024

You can download or update Safari by clicking here.

Please Note: If you are a Windows user, there is no version of Safari that works in Windows. This article is for Mac users.

Our website and Point of Sale system runs directly in a web browser, and one of the best browsers to use for our system is Safari. You will need to download and install the program before logging into the system to use it or to follow along in a training session.

While you can use Safari for many functions in the system, it is recommended that you work with Google Chrome primarily. Please note that for working with website content, Firefox is easier to use than Safari and Google Chrome, so Firefox should be your first choice for that part of the system. For the latest information on printers, please call our Support team.

  1. Safari Menu - Your Safari menu across the top of the window has important functions such as History, Bookmarks, and Settings.

  2. Toggle Sidebar Open / Closed - The Safari sidebar opens on the left and will show a list of all open tabs. You can create new groups for your tabs as needed (1). Click on any tab to load that page (2). Your list of Bookmarks, your Reading List, and any pages or online resources Shared with You are also accessible in the sidebar (3).

  3. Back / Forward - You can use these buttons to go back to any pages you've viewed or move forward again as needed.

  4. Smart Summary - With this on, Apple AI will give you a smart summary of content you are viewing.

  5. Address / Search Bar - This shows the page address you are currently viewing. When logging into the site, or when our Support team asks you to go to a page in your browser, enter the address here. You can also use it to enter a Google Search.

  6. Translate - If you need to view the page in a different language, click this button and an extensive list is available.

  7. Reload Page - From time to time, as we are working with you in the system, we may ask you to refresh or reload the page to see changes we have made for you. This button will refresh the page, and if you are still not seeing it, holding down Command and Shift and clicking on the Reload Page button will force the browser to completely reload everything.

  8. Share - If you wish to share the current page in social media or communication apps, click this button.

  9. Tabbed Browsing - The site you are currently viewing will be in the active tab, like the one you see above, and there will always be a + button for you to open a new tab, or you can hold down Ctrl and hit the T key to open a new one. You can have as many tabs open in the system as you need.

  10. View Tabs - You can see a page with all tabs arrayed in a grid to visually search your open tabs and click to access whatever you need with this button.

Some browser programs may not work well at all with our system, for example, Internet Explorer should not be used at all with our system because of security concerns with the outdated browser. Edge and Safari will not work well with certain parts of our system that you will need, so we recommend for the best experience to use one of the recommended browsers: Firefox and Chrome work best with the system.
