Nothing New This Week
Improved
Sales by Item and Sales by State Reports Rebuilt With a Refreshed LookThe Sales by Item Report and Sales by State Report now run on our newer platform with a refreshed look. Filters, searching, sorting, summary totals, print, and CSV/email export all work the same as before, and the exported data is unchanged.
Pay and Pickup Buttons Keep the Customer Actions Menu OpenThe Pay and Pickup buttons for Work Orders in the Register's Customer Actions menu used to close the whole menu after one click, which made it hard to process several Work Orders in a row. The menu now stays open after you click Pay or Pickup. It closes only when you click the "x" or click outside the panel.
Return to Work Order After a Payment or PickupAfter a Work Order payment or pickup, the system left you in the transaction window and you had to navigate back to the Work Order. You now return to the same Work Order from which you started, which is a restoration of previous behavior.
Work Order Deposit Defaults to the Remaining BalancePreviously, when you added a Work Order payment or pickup into the Register, the deposit amount defaulted to $0, so you had to enter the full balance by hand. It now defaults to the Work Order's remaining balance (before tax), and you can still edit it.
Packages Page ModernizedWe modernized the design and functionality of the Packages page for a more consistent, updated experience.
Credit Card Surcharging Now AvailableYou can now pass a processing fee to customers who pay by credit card. Your payment processor calculates and applies the fee at the terminal, and it shows on the transaction, receipt, End of Day, Sales Summary, Payouts, and other reports. Returns refund the surcharge proportionally, and it posts to its own income account in QuickBooks Online if you're integrated. To enable Surcharging, contact us at (385) 404-6200 or support@rainpos.com to get it set up for your processor. It is not something you can enable yourself.

Make and Model Added to the Add New Products SpreadsheetThe Add New Products spreadsheet now has Make and Model columns, matching the Edit Existing Products spreadsheet. They're in both the download and the upload, and they sit just before the Options columns because they apply to the whole product.
Current Location Shown in the Top BarStores with more than one Location now see the Location they're logged into in the top bar, so it's easier to avoid mix-ups. Long Location names are shortened, and hovering shows the full name. Single-Location stores won't see any change.
Fixed
QuickBooks Online Export Creates a Negative Sales Tax Line on Fully-Prepaid Layaway PickupsWe fixed an issue where picking up a layaway with nothing left to pay created a Sales Receipt with a negative sales tax line in the QuickBooks Online export. The lines netted to zero on screen but posted to different accounts, which overstated revenue and wrongly debited Sales Tax Payable. Now, when nothing is collected at pickup, no Sales Receipt is created. The Journal Entry alone records the revenue, tax, and deposit drawdown, so a missing Sales Receipt for these pickups is expected.
Inventory Velocity Report Shows Zero Days in Stock for Sold-Out ItemsWe've fixed an issue where sold-out items sometimes showed "0 days in stock" on the Inventory Velocity Report, even if they'd been in stock for weeks or months. The report now shows the true number of days an item was in stock before it sold out.
End of Day Report Shows Quantity of Zero for Work Order MaterialsWe resolved an issue where the End of Day Report's Transaction View showed a quantity of 0 for materials on a Work Order picked up through the Register. This was a display issue only and didn't affect pricing or the sale.
Reports Show Incorrect Tax for "No Tax" TransactionsWe corrected an issue where transactions with "No Tax" selected at checkout sometimes showed inconsistent, incorrect tax amounts on the Sales Summary Report, Transaction View, and Edit page. The Tax Profile selected at checkout now stays consistent across all views, and we corrected previously affected transactions with a data fix.
Server Error When Viewing Some Sent Marketing EmailsWe fixed an issue where viewing a sent marketing email threw a server error if it was saved as a draft or template with no recipient groups selected and the "Bad Emails" option unchecked.
Register Page Refresh Sets Incorrect Card Payment AmountWe've fixed an issue where lowering a card payment amount (for example, after removing an item or applying a discount) and then refreshing the Register restored the original, higher amount. That could show an incorrect Change Due and risked charging the customer more than the sale total.
Purchase Order and Receiving Order Retail Price Changes Aren't Updating Condition PricingWe resolved an issue where changing the Retail price on a Purchase Order or Receiving Order for an item with only condition pricing updated the product's base price. The product page and website kept the old condition price, and the Register showed the new price only until a serial number was selected. Changing price on an item now also updates the price of your first enabled condition (usually Brand New), as long as the item already has a saved price for that condition. Prices for other conditions and Locations don't change.
Pausing a Special Order Pickup in the Register Closes Out the Special OrderWe corrected an issue where pausing a sale in the Register during a Special Order pickup marked the order as picked up right away. The customer wasn't charged, the item stayed reserved, the deposit counted as already applied, and resuming the sale showed no Special Order line. Pausing a sale or saving a Quote no longer marks Special Order items as picked up or applies the deposit. The pickup is recorded only when the sale is completed. Please note: Special Orders already affected can't be corrected automatically. If you experienced this issue, you may need to fix those orders manually.
Manual Marketing Campaigns Ignore Some Customer UnsubscribesWe fixed an issue where manually-sent email marketing campaigns could still reach customers who had unsubscribed from a selected list. A customer unsubscribed from one list still gets campaigns sent to other lists to which they remain subscribed. The recipient count while composing an email marketing campaign now reflects who will actually receive it.
That's all for this week. Thank you for being part of the Rain family. Take care, we love you!!
