How to Take a Page Live and Add It to Navigation

Publish Your Page When Ready, Then Add it to Your Navigation Menu

If you like the idea of creating a page that the public cannot see until you have made the content as amazing as you need it to be and then launching the page and linking to it in your main Navigation menu, this short article will detail all of those steps for you. There are three main parts to this process, to begin, log into your system as an administrator.

 

Step One - Create Your Unpublished Page

  1. Click Website on the left and then click Pages.
  2. Click the +New Web Page button.
  3. Enter the Page Title the way you will want it to appear in the Navigation.
  4. Enter the SEO Title and SEO Description, if this will be a page the public will eventually have access to visit. Entering this information is very important for your SEO, click here for more information: Website Pages.
  5. Click Save. Your page will be created as an Unpublished page that your visitors and the search engines cannot see.

Step Two - Create Your Page Content

  1. Click Website on the left and then click Pages.
  2. In the Pages list, you will see that your page has a Blue Cloud button, indicating it is Unpublished. If you entered an SEO Title, you will see that as the page URL for the best SEO possible. Click on the Page Title for your new page to go to the page and begin your content creation.

  1. Click the +Add Content button at the top, click Add Body Content.
  2. Add and develop your content until you feel the page is ready to go live. Click here for more info on how to work with content: The Content Editor.

 

Step Three - Launch Your Page and Add It to Your Navigation Menu

  1. Click Website on the left and then click Pages.
  2. In the Pages list, find your page and click on the Blue Cloud button to take the page live.
  3. Click the Pages drop-list at the top and then click Navigation.
  4. If you want your new page to be one of your top-level Navigation items, click the blue +New Navigation Item button at the top. OR, if you want it to be in a drop-list under one of the top-level items, click the small black arrow next to the top-level item to open the drop-list, then click the white +New Navigation Item button.
  5. You will use choice 1: Existing Web Page. Click the +Create Navigation Item button for that area.
  6. Find your page in the list of Web Pages (Note: only Published pages will appear in the list, links to Unpublished pages do not work) and click the radio button for your page.

  1. In the Link Text field, enter the page title as you want it to appear in your Navigation menu.
  2. Click the Create Navigation Item button. You will be taken back to the Navigation view.
  3. Click the drop-list for Search Website Pages in the upper right to go to the website view, then find your new link and click to test it.
